Hanlons was set up back in 1902 by Neal Hanlon. He had just returned from The Second Boer War and wanted to open a fruit and vegetable shop selling local produce.
Back then, fruit and vegetables were the star of show but over the years and four generations of Hanlons later, we’ve added Seafood, Cheese, Deli, Sandwiches, Platters, Groceries and Gift Hampers to the mix.
We’re still in the same building we started out in all those years ago with the shop now being run by Ernest Sr and his son Ernest Jr and amongst the staff you’ll also find a few other Hanlons thrown in for good measure.
So as you can see, we are very much a family business and food is our great love. If we’re not eating it, we’re talking about it! Feel free to call in and see our wide range of foods and if you have a story or a wee recipe to share…we’re all ears!
